SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the coding process used by programmers to help a web site speak more efficiently to the primary search engines and place the client's web site on the first page of the major search engines.
When you make a search in a Search Engine, the Search Engine asks every web site in its data base a series of 3 questions to determine who is going to be seen first to last. Whichever web site answers those 3 questions best gets to be seen first. Whichever web site answers those 3 questions worst gets to be seen last and whichever web site doesn't answer those questions at all doesn't exist.
We at Reliable Listing provide a client with a web presence and help that web site answer those 3 questions best which places them at the top of Google, Yahoo! and MSN.
EXAMPLE
A Plumber in Los Angeles wants to be found first
Keyword / Phrase: Plumber in Los Angeles

1. Does your web address match the Keyword / Phrase:
(This accounts for 10% of the ranking score)
The winner of this category would look like this -
www.plumberinlosangeles.com
Secondary winners could be something like -
www.plumber.com/diretory/cities/losangeles.htm
www.losangeles.com/services/plumbers/htm
Whoever has the closest match wins the first round
2. Does the Phrase repeat itself most often on your web site? The Phrase cannot exceed 15% of the total words on the page.
(20% of the ranking score)
Example:
Do you need a Plumber? Are you tired of getting the run around here in Temecula? Let us be your Plumber in Temecula and we promise you will never do business with a different plumber again!
3. Is your web site the most popular?
(70% of the ranking score)
Any web expert can help a web site answer the first two questions properly and even offer a quality boost to any web site; however the real test comes in the final question. It is the primary ranking condition and the winner in this category wins…period.
If you are a massage therapist and you have a friend that is a chiropractor that has a web site you could encourage him to put a button (link) on his web site that says "want a massage?". When a user presses this button it would send you to your massage web site. This is an inbound link. The web site with the most inbound links wins the first half of this ranking condition.
Special note: SEO programmers around the country have established link farms and/or networks consisting of both real and fake web sites that they use to point links to their clients. They are typically frowned upon by the primary search engines and can get a client banned permanently from the directories. BIG risk! It is important to accept inbound links from RELIABLE, RELEVANT & VERIFIED business web sites to protect the client's life in the search engines.
Web Sites that receive links from other web sites with no traffic and no changes being made to text and content has very little position value.
